Fryštát Palace in Karviná and the Monuments of the Old Town

When wandering through the region, one cannot overlook the Empire jewel that is Fryštát Palace. Visiting it is an unforgettable experience not only for history enthusiasts. The Karviná palace is one of the few witnesses to local history. Tourists can visit it year-round, and its wealth of offerings is simply exceptional on a regional scale. Three permanent tour routes lead through 33 richly equipped castle rooms. One of them is dedicated to the most famous Czech artists of the 19th century. From the very beginning, the stylish palace has made an impressive impression, but besides this secular monument, there are other important buildings in the city, such as the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which is the oldest monument in the city and certainly the tallest building in the historic center. The church can be visited outside of mass hours and as part of a special tour route covering both the palace and the church. For tourists, numerous informative and promotional materials are prepared, not only concerning the palace and the church but also the adjacent Božena Němcová Park, where a guided walk with a brochure is worthwhile. After the stroll, at the end of the park, you can relax during a boat ride at the recreational center called "Łódeczki." A characteristic element of the city's landscape and a grateful photographic motif is the market surrounded by a row of burgher tenements, with the town hall and an iron fountain standing in the center. You can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic old town.
